The Eco Chapter

An eco-literacy and regenerative storytelling consultancy

Empowering change through eco-literary advocacy

A testimonial about Marla, a Climate Fresk facilitator, praising her knowledge, passion for biodiversity conservation, and her ability to create inclusive, empowering workshops about climate action and sustainability. Stress and anxiety about climate change and its impact on our lives is now common across the globe.

Much of this comes from a lack of understanding and an abundance of stories of doom and gloom.

But what if a better world could exist through a better vocabulary?

“When we change our daily lives—the way we think, speak and act—we change the world”

-Thich Nhat Hanh

I’ve curated lots of ways we can work together

towards systemic change@theecochapter.com

Storytelling & Communication – transforming complex words into accessible, impactful, inspiring ones through workshops, talks, panels, book clubs, content creation, and creative writing.

Environmental & Systems Education – putting words to work through collaborative, collective intelligence workshops.

Empowerment – amplifying words and voices by guiding individuals and groups through reflective writing circles, coaching, community-building, and mentorship.

Educational Transformation – re-imagining and enhancing words in school curriculums to integrate ecological literacy, compassion, connection, and regenerative values into core learning.

Regenerative Consulting – advising schools, organisations, companies and individuals to use better words towards restoration and healing – of selves and the planet.

Language plays a big role in how we and others perceive the world.

Imagine if we stopped calling Earth earth, and called her Mother Earth instead? Imagine if we didn’t call minerals, coal, fossil fuels, and wood resources, and called them gifts instead.

What would that world look like?

I’m working towards creating that better world here at The Eco Chapter with words - because if you change your words, you can really change your world.

better future narratives

Hi! I’m Marla, the earthling running The Eco Chapter.

Eco-literary advocacy is the practice of using literature and words to promote environmental consciousness, awareness, and action. “Eco-literature, a powerful tool for environmental advocacy, serves as a platform for authors to raise awareness of the urgent challenges facing our planet.”

—Nasser Dasht Peyma, Eco-Literature and Environmental Advocacy
